The late fall season
sees the rapid change
in Nature's colours
as the weather begins to cool.
A bright Sunday morning
greets a flurry of packing
as summer toys are stored away.
The partly strung
tennis racquet recalls
the hot summer afternoons,
where the susurrant sound
of a swinging arm
was the calm contrast
to the hard "thwack"
against the ball.
Swinging it one more time,
it lands in a box,
destined for the basement corners.
- based on words provided by Dee Robinson - racquet; susurrant; basement
