Untitled - October 31, 2001
The cool October night
harkens back to the summer past -
where we sought
the cool ocean breezes
against the oppressive heat.
Another trip to the beach
lets us sit under the umbrella shades,
sipping on cool tangerine juice -
its sticky sweetness
transporting us away
from the shrill cries
of the seagulls.
As dusk falls,
I watch the rotating beam
from the lighthouse
flash across
the turbulent waters of the Atlantic,
mild gusts were the only succor
against that balmy summer day.
- based on words provided by Miss Ellie - tangerine; lighthouse; balmy
