I thought I fought a coup d'etat
half-hearted at best,
if at that.
Not knowing the reasons I went to fight,
a battle began, with no end in sight.
I traveled afar
from my native home,
like the cowboys of old -
across the arid range, I roam.
Contrasting ideas fought out in real life,
loss mirrored in unending strife,
each side cast in black and white,
ignoring all the shades of grey
that lay between then and now.
- based on "I thought I fought a coup d''eetat" from Mr. Bill Maziekien
