Untitled - December 21, 2001

The shortest day,
the longest night,
from dusk to dawn
the darkness lasts.

As the sun sets
beyond the hills,
the small flickers
of candlelight begin.

Warding against the pitch black
that would consume all light,
bonfire gatherings,
and happy times
are relived this night.

As the land begins its shift
around the sun,
the world moves
to embrace the warmth
from a million hearts.
