Untitled - August 22, 2003
The clear soprano
is molded against
the strumming
of the six string
that lends
a semblance
of purity
to the moment.
The bright lights
of Brooklyn
reflect
in the glassed windows
the surround the lounge.
The evening passes
into a pleasant
lull of sound.
An impromptu rendition
of American Pie
lifts the spirits
of a room
even as the words echo
an unspoken belief
within.
As the end is nigh,
the voices fade
into the night,
singing about
broken dreams.
Even as childhood favourites
are remembered,
a near-forgotten fragment
of happiness is cherished
and moves from the beginning of life
to the living of dreams.
