Expectations - December 28, 2005
She had been born,
not quite the seventh son
of the seventh son,
and not quite filled
with holy expectations.
She had been born,
as the treasured daughter,
beloved and filled with
happy expectations and dreams.
Fresh dreams
were never spoken of,
need and expectations
often broken up,
before they were even realized,
as though she was why he was penalized.
Her dreams in life
were like many others:
expecting marriage, love and happiness,
her own thoughts were smothered,
by the expectations of social 'others.'
Meeting like two ships
for the briefest of times,
changing each other
with no rhythm or rhyme.
They found love unexpected
challenging the other
to seek anew
love and expectations
from a different view,
as though a life of no need
was no life indeed.
