Chapter 2
Nick Carter sighed; man I wish I was off this stupid plane. Nick had gone to study music and try out for a part in a band. Unfortunately he was coming back empty handed. They had told him he had done well, but his voice wasn’t the kind they were looking for. They had been looking for a more manly voice. Manly Voice, hah he thought to himself. He was disgusted. All he wanted was to be a singer
His mom had videotapes of him singing in front of the camera. He sang in chorus in school, & the choir at his church. He remembers one Christmas he was given a karoke box with a microphone. Nick had sung for hours with that thing.
Everyone said he was going to go far. He just didn’t have the right voice, the right height, or the right looks. He was so sick of not having the right whatever. It didn’t matter how he sang, it was his looks that mattered. He didn’t care what group he sang with, he just wanted to sing.
His mom & dad would be as disappointed as he was. His brother Aaron was going to be so mad. To make matters worse, Elizabeth, his girlfriend since Elementary School broke up with him on Friday. She had written him a letter letting him know. She said she wasn’t sure she was ready for a commitment yet.
What commitment he asked himself. I didn’t ask he to marry me. I just asked if she would be my girlfriend in High School too.
Elizabeth had said yes, and then she wrote him a letter she was breaking up with him because the whole long distance thing wasn’t working.
Nick knew what she really meant. She didn’t want to date a loser.
Oh well he thought her loss.
He was so bored he didn’t know what to do. He thought about what the judges had said. He fell into a deep sleep.
