I didn’t expect Christie to cry when I gave her the necklace, but I guess she was just happy. She took off her cross & placed it in her pocket. She put her sunglasses on. I thought she looked very beautiful. I looked towards the road as we started back on our way. Surprisingly nothing interesting has happened in the past couple of day. We have just been running away from everything. I decided to stop at the South Carolina rest stop/ Visitor Center so that we could sleep. Kara was already asleep. I looked back & smiled. I looked over at Christie.

“We need to take turns watching for suspicious people,” she said.
“Do you want to take the first watch?”
“Yeah, 2 hours at a time then we’ll switch OK. I’ll let you know if I see anything.”
“OK,”

I fell asleep within 5 minutes. I was woken up be Christie 2 hours later.

“Everything was very peaceful,” she told me.

I sat up. It was peaceful the first hour, but during the second hour I saw 3 big black vans pull up next to my van. I saw the words ILab.Corp on the side of the vans I rolled down the window & listened to see who they were. I heard the conversation of three of the men.

“The boss is crazy,” One of them said. “How are we suppose to find the girl & Christie when we have no clue where they are”
“We have to find Dorough,” the second guy said. “ He has the girl & Christie is probably helping him get away from us.”
“You know,” started the third “They are probably right under our noses we just have to find them.”

That did it. I rolled up the window & started the car. I sped out of there as fast as I could. I heard gunshots on the back of the door. I wasn’t stopping for anything until I had another plan & I needed Christie’s help.
