Since 1994, "Los Espejuelos" Fish Farm has been worked about reproduction  of  freshwater  species,  whole  of  all endemics from the Orinoco River great basin. Our nearest location, to Meta and Upía rivers, at Guayabal de Upía, in the Colombian Eastern Plains, has allowed us to obtain wild parents for our assays.
Initially, we direct, our investigations, toward species with great   adaptability   to  captivity,  intensive  culture   and polyculture,and environmentally friendly.
White cachama  Piaractus brachypomus,  Yamú  Brycon siebenthalae and Bocachico Prochilodus mariae, reophilics and scale covered body species has  been  used.  In  near future, we hope  to  job  with  skin  covered  body  species, called bagres.
