BlueBelle Bassets Memorial Page
As they say "Into every life a little rain must fall".  Well, our "rain" is in the form of our tears.  First, tears of sorrow, but eventually tears of joy for having experienced the pleasure of owning and loving these wonderful companions.

The following dogs will always have a special place in our hearts.
BlueBelles Modern Delilah, CD    2/27/87 - 3/18/01

Delilah was from the very first BlueBelle litter.  Ronda was her mother and both are pictured together with Delilah's littermate, Little John on the home page.

Delilah earned her Companion Dog title with Jan at 2 1/2 years of age.  In 1992, she was bred and produced 10 beautiful puppies, 2 of which became Champions, Gunner and Red Rufus.  We are also very proud of the fact that she appeared on the cover of the AKC Gazette Magazine.

Delilah passed peacefully in her sleep only 3 weeks after her 14th birthday.  She is sorely missed.

J&B's Help Me Rhonda, CD

Rhonda was our first basset and as such didn't bear the BlueBelle name.  Rhonda earned her Companion Dog Title and along with Mattie, became the foundation for BlueBelle Bassets.  Rhonda produced 3 puppies including one champion, BlueBelles Frank Lloyd who was owned by Tim Cooper.  She was also the dam of Delilah and Little John.
Ch. Branscombes Waltzing Mathilda

Mattie was our first conformation show dog and our first champion coming from the Branscombe line of bassets.  Mattie produced 3 puppies, including Molly and Margie.
BlueBelles Little John

Little John, one of Rhonda's puppies earned 7 points towards his championship before he passed away.  Little John sired a litter with Mattie giving us Molly and Margie.
BlueBelles Deuces Wild

Two Spots as he was called injured a leg during his puppy days and as a result was unable to be a show dog.  Our intent was to place him in a pet home but the longer he stayed with us the more apparent it became he wasn't going anywhere.  Unfortunately, his life was cut short by cancer.  Two Spots was out of Delilah and a littermate to Gunner, Red, and Suzy Q.
BlueBelle's Ghostbuster Brown

Buster was the only puppy in a litter from Molly.  Being the only puppy, we couldn't bear to sell him.  However, like Two Spots, his life was cut much too short by kidney problems.  Buster was one of the sweetest, gentle dogs we have ever owned.
BlueBelles Our Lil' Margie

Margie was out of a litter between Mattie and Little John.  Margie lived with Brian's parents for many years before coming back "home" to spend her senior years with the rest of the BlueBelle Bassets.
BlueBelle's Molly McButter  4/12/89 - 3/6/04

Molly was from our second litter.  Mattie was her mother.  Molly had two litters herself.  Buster pictured above was from her first litter and Rosie, also pictured above was from her second.  Molly had that gentle sweet disposition that you would expect from a Basset Hound.  Just one month shy of her 15th birthday when she passed away, she now holds the distinction of being the longest living BlueBelle Basset.

As with them all, Molly continues to live on in our hearts and minds.
CH BlueBelle's Red Rufus  7/5/1992 - 8/11/2004

Red, Big Red, Red Ruf Inn were just some of our favorite names for him.  Red is out of a litter from 1992.  BlueBelle's Modern Delilah is his mom.  Red along with his littermate, Gunner were shown side by side at many dog shows.  Red became a champion first finishing in November, 1996.  He was our first red & white basset which now dominate our kennel.  He only sired one litter but what a litter it was.  There are several champions from that litter including CH BlueBelle's Full Monty O'JEM.  We are also fortunate to have 2 Red Grandkids, Lorelei and Crystal.
CH BlueBelle's Son Of A Gunner 7/5/1992 - 7/3/2005

Gunner is from our second litter.  Delilah was his mother and his dad, also Gunner, won the hound group at Westminister several years back.  Gunner was a very special dog, loving and sweet as can be.  He did appear on the Oprah Winfrey show many years ago.  We will always treasure that videotape of the show which allows us to go back and see him young and alert.  He left us totally unexepectedly, so it was quite a shock at the time.  It's taken over 6 months for us to place his picture and story on this page.  Rest well our Gunner.
BlueBelle's Suzy Q 7/5/1992 - 8/6/2005

Less than one month after losing Gunner, his littermate, Suzy Q, passed away from cancer.  Suzy was the last of four littermates we kept from one litter, Two Spots, Red, and Gunner the other three.  Suzy was never a show dog but was a loving quiet dog.  Most of the time, you wouldn't even notice she was around.  She did whelp one litter.  Chloe and TJ are from that litter.
BlueBelle's Cracklin Rosie  March 1, 2007

Rosie was one of Gunner's and Molly's pup.  Although, never a show dog, she was very sweet and gentle.  Another dog who was so quiet you would never know she was around until supper time.
