continued... Alfred sees sarah for the first time and instead of going straight to "naked girl" he says "i have fallen in love" i don't think that works, 'cause then he starts to sing "and if i ever fall in love" but then he just said that he already had... i think they go for the obvious funny in his awkwardness at seeing a "naked girl" and stick with that. they put "merely browsing" back in! i think it still needs a tinker, though that's the tightest i've seen that scene so far. so yay! i still think the evil guy should get back into alfred's head at the end of carpe noctem. but it is making more sense now with the two of them biting sarah at the end. still, i don't feel like i'm totally getting how alfred is changed by this experience. i think max was trying to give a "what's going on?" kind of expression on his face when sarah's behind him acting vampiric. and he was less shocked when he was bit and more in dorky pain like alfred would be, which may have been what they were going for on saturday, too. so i think he really is supposed to be offering himself to her. i love the pulling his hair back. it doesn't matter that he has no hair there, the audience knows what that means. i thought i was going to die when he did that! okay, time is dwindling and i got things to do. i'll let you know if i remember anything else! - M |
Adding onto the last email... a couple more things that i remembered at the end when abronsius comes out, instead of saying that he has the machine which he sees is utterly superfluous, i think he was celebrating victory. can't remember that well, i was enjoying alfred who was enjoying being dead much more than before. anyway, he runs off home to heidelberg. some people were sad about this, 'cause the other way was funnier. some people were still complaining that you don't know what happens to him, but this way they made it okay that you don't know what happens to him. so what's abronsius's journey? he firmly believes in logic. his experiences so far have not changed his mind. but he has already said he is blessed by alfred's presence in his life. loosing his precious friend to evil can't be logical. so maybe he's defeated by that and then runs for his life. there's no time for them to eat him, they need to start the song. also, krolock spend a lot of time hackling before he dies. i think the first time i saw it he sang something there. i don't really remember, but it would better than him just hackling away. it's kinda like, "okay, i'm real glad you think this is so funny, move on already." i'm always about "make it louder!" but i think this is the place for a quiet moment, maybe reprise "endless appetite" in order to get the vamp perspective. let us see what's changed. okay, that's it. ciao! - M |
