ANGEL’S STORY

I came into this world on April 26, 1999 and was born deaf. I went into foster care at Emiko’s house in Chattanooga, Tennessee as she finds homes for rescue dogs. My Mommy, Helen Gregory, applied to adopt me on July 9th and then there was all the checking of Veterinarians, personal references and the home check. Betty Dorsey, whom later became one of my Godmothers, did the home check on July 31st and I was delivered into my new Mommy’s arms on August 1st; Mommy says that was harder than adopting a child and the wait had her driving everyone crazy. Well, when I was delivered into Mom’s arms she said a strange peace came over her and she knew I was very special.

I need to explain that Mom’s beloved Cinemax, an abused poodle, went to Rainbow Bridge on June 22nd and left Mom devastated beyond words. She could not cope with his loss and cried all the time. You see Cinemax chose Mom as his Mom one day when she was looking at poodles. He ran up to her and she carried him everywhere, so when she went to give him back, they said no, he is yours. He choose you and they told the story of his owners kicking him in the jaw and shattering so badly it had to be surgically removed. He came to her with seizures and couldn’t eat. They overcame these things and had 3 ½ wonderful years together and he became her heart. He still is every beat of her heart and she says I am her soul.

One night when Mom couldn’t sleep she was on the computer and she can’t explain what happened as her mouse went to the site where I was. It was love at first site so she applied for me. She never checked sites before and didn’t want another dog. HeHe, Cinemax fixed her as all that know the story say Max sent the mouse to that site that night and that he picked me from all the dogs he could find. Mom said When Max died that it would rain for 7 days; it did. Everyday he would do cloud slide shows for Mom to say he was OK and still loved her, but no matter how hard he tried the sorrow never stopped. Max knew he had to do something and fast so he sent me to Mom. Everything was against her getting me as she is on disability and Dad on Social Security but Cinemax and God made the adoption agency overcome their fixation on these matters and I came home on August 1st.

I wasn’t here long when Mom fed me and my brothers Tine-Tine and Gremlin. I was eating and all of a sudden I ended upside down in the bowl. Everyone says it was Cinemax telling me he was still number one and not to forget it. Well since Mom has decided Max is her heart and I am her soul that has stopped.

We have a beautiful Memorial Garden in our back yard for Cinemax where Mom has Memorials for all the animals that pass to the bridge.

I am told that I am very special as I look like I have the wisdom of a thousand years in my eyes and facial expressions. Being deaf doesn’t stop me from being smart and playing, barking and stealing toys from my brothers. I am a very possessive puppy about my toys. I have a bad habit of "Mine all Mine!" Having two Godmothers and three guardians doesn’t help as they and my aunts spoil me rotten. Seems like I am always getting something in the mail from someone. Mom even had my own Christmas Cards done. I think a lot of the spoiling happened when MOM put the picture of me in my diamonds on the Chi lists. Everyone was in love with me before that, but something about that picture started something special happening. I have pictures in a tiara, pearls, dressed up and hanging out. You see I am a camera ham. Mom gets the camera out and I’m waiting for her.

I have been going to the VA Hospital in Murfreesboro since I was 12 weeks old. I am a big hit there as I work therapy there and my picture even sits on Drs' Desks. If I don’t go with Dad everyone wants to know where I am. I love everyone and make a great therapy dog as I don’t snap or get excited by people handeling me or petting me. When I get tired I go to sleep on Mom’s shoulder. I also go to adult day care for handicapped adults. After the first of the year we are going to go to senior citizen centers and nursing homes. Because I like to dress up it makes it even more fun. I even went to an Adoptathon for the local shelter, as I was a rescue.

I am Mom’s Service Dog as she has a hard time controlling depression, panic and anxiety. It is worse since my Dad had his heart attack on November 8th. She says the world seems to close in on her when I am not with her. When I was spayed December 23rd, Mom sat in the waiting room and waited until I could go home. They said that was a first. She said even when they said I was fine that it wasn’t OK until she held me in her arms. I was still asleep when I went home so I woke up lying on Mom’s tummy. What a wonderful way to wake up, not all alone in a cage.

I was Millenium Dog for Net Paws, Won the last contest in 1999 and first in 2000 as the dates over ran years in “The Poop Photo Contest”. I had an article in ChihuahuaChat , an international newsletter Three of my photos got honorable mention in a Halloween Contest on Photopoint, Perky Pet Contest and have placed in many others. My newest Title is “Yankee Doodle Dandy Dog. As I represent the Yankee Chihuahua Rescue group for the next year.

Mom has had to go to New Hampshire a lot because Gramma is sick and we fly up to be with her and Grampa for a few weeks at a time. Because I am a service dog I can go in the airplane cabin with her. I love flying and I get lots of attention from the passengers and crew. Got my wings from a stewardess and my picture taken with the pilot in the cockpit. A little boy called me “An angel dog” on one flight.

They say that I belong to the World as I have followers all over the world. Mom says they provide me food, shelter and love, but I belong to my followers.
