PEKINGESE IRISH OLYMPICS!!! Always "in the know" about current events, the Pekes gathered to format their participation at the Olympics! They thought this would be fun to do in conjunction with St. Patrick's Day... one in February and one in March! First on their "to-do" list was NEW IRISH names... Muffi: I have selected Maille - "the perfect one" - a nice Irish name in honor of St. Patrick's Day for my new name! Shadow: "You are too fat! What sport...gonna have to have a tub in it? And that is a hard to say name! I recommend FAT-TIMA! Yeah..FAT-TIMA does tub rolling!" Haley Jo: "I'm gonna enter "Cat Catching!" Shadow: "Why? You have yet to catch one!" Haley Jo: "Oh, shut up! My new name will be Rowena - derived from the word meaning "white mane" or "white hair"; might be "slender and fair." That's a neat Irish name!" I am showing a pic of a celtic cat! Shadow: What does Irish have to do with Olympics? I am going to participate in "Package Opening!" My Irish name would be Kerwin - "small and dark" or "little jet-black one." See! I can do this name stuff too!" Muffi: Kerwin..wasn't that a toad? Shadow: No, fat cow..that was Kermit! Ranger: I want my Irish name to be Cúmheá - (kuhm-EH) "hound of the plains." I will enter the "Bone Throw!" I present a picture of celtic hounds! Shadow: Scrawny mutt! You have never seen a "plain" and who can pronouce that?" Gizmo: "Well, I am too old for the Olympics but I picked an Irish name! Galen - (Gael) "calm"; or "small but lively." Shadow: Lively! You do two things...sleep and sleep under Mom's feet!" Gizmo: "So! I am smart! You mutts run, bark, chase cats...who cares about that...what do you get if you catch a cat? Cat hair! Phooey!" "Did you know that Green is associated with Saint Patrick's Day because it is the color of spring, Ireland, and the shamrock. Leprechauns are also associated with this holiday. Leprechauns of legend are actually mean little creatures! Shadow could be a leprechaun!" Shadow: But I am soooooooooooo cute! ALL the Pekes say "Thanks for visiting!"
