1 (1076) Silver-eared Mesia: Leiothrix argentauris
(a) Male galbana (E. Myanmar formerly Burma, N. Thailand): Yellow bill and forehead-patch, black head, silver-grey ear- coverts, orange-yellow throat and breast, reddish wing patch and tail-coverts.
(b) Female: Nape and uppertail-coverts dull golden-olive; generally less yellows.
(c) Male cunhaci (S. Indochina): larger yellow forehead-patch.
(d) Male ricketti (S.E. Yunnan, N. Indochina): Orange-red throat and upper breast and slightly darker remainder of underparts.

(a) Male Kwangtungensis (S. China and N.E. Vietnam): Red bill, yellowish face, golden-olive crown and nape, dark submoustachial stripe, deep yellow throat, orange-rufous upperbreast and complex colored wing pattern.
(b) Female: More greenish crown, greyer ear-coverts, weaker submoustachial stripe, paler below.
(c) Juvenile: Crown concolorous with mantle, underparts olive-grey with whitish center, bill paler.
(d) Male yunnanensis (N.E. Myanmar and N.W. Yunnan and S.E. Sikang: Dull crown, greyer above, redder breast, more black and less chestnut on wings.
