Some may be familiar with the stretch of Route 44, near the Seekonk-Rehoboth, MA border. However, have you ever heard of or had a personal encounter with the ghostly rascal there?

Many people had scary experiences with this ghost and he is still there with his ghoulish behaviour that make people remember him for as long as they live. He is said to have red hair and often dresses in light woollen shirt and blue jeans.

Some victims claimed they saw him appearing in the middle of the road out of no where and they would run over him. When they come out and check if they had knocked down anyone, there would be no bodies to be found. However, he would let out a deep devilish laughter that scared them off their feet.

Others claimed that he would follow a car with his head up against the car window, while the vehicle was cruising at 100kmph along the highway. The worse part is that he would be grinning at the passengers inside and scared the wit out of them.

There is also a story where the ghost was seen hitch-hiking along Route 44. A truck driver was kind enough to stop for him. According to the driver, he appeared to be a normal man in his forties with thick red hair. After he got on the truck, the driver asked him where he was heading too but he just kept quiet and smiled at him. The truck driver thought he was a psycho or whatever and he got nervous. He decided to stop his truck and ask him to get off. The ghost did as he was told and got off the truck. Nonetheless, he did not just got off the truck but he vanished straight away. The man said he could literally see right through him before he disappeared completely.

Another reported incident related to this ghost of Route 44 involved a couple whose car broke down in the middle of the highway. The husband told his wife to stay inside the car while he walked down the road to look for a phone. A short while later, he met this infamous ghost sitting by the side of the road. The man asked him if he knew where the nearest telephone was but he just smiled at the man without saying a word. The man could see he had a pair of lifeless eyes that it looked as if it would trap someone in it. He turned away and the ghost started laughing evilly. The man got back to his car to find his wife in trepidation. According to the wife, she heard a voice, which laughed and taunted her, cut into the song as she was listening to the radio. She got off the car for awhile but the voiced followed her. It was only when she got back to the car and switched off the radio that it stopped. Both of them, terrified at their experiences, caught a ride with a passing vehicle and left the scene.
