Chinese Name: 孔令傳
Hung (孔) was the surname of Kung Fu Tze (more commonly known as
Confucius*), my great (x 74) grandfather who lived from 551 - 479 B.C.
(obviously in China). Ling (令) is the “generation name”. (There were several Chinese
kings a long time ago, who wanted to honour Confucius. They composed poems to give all his descendants their
middle names, according to their generations. According to the poem, my
children’s middle names would be “virtue”.) Chuen (傳) is my last name and
was chosen by my parents. Now for the definitions: “孔, or Hung” means great. “令, or Ling” means
command. “傳,
or Chuen” means to spread good news. Now, the word “gospel” comes from Greek.
Uncoincidentally, that word means “good news”. So my name means: “The great (孔) command (令) is to spread the gospel (傳).”
Habitat: Ottawa
(the capital of Canada - no, it’s not Toronto and
it’s not in Toronto), Ontario, Canada
Ethnic Group: Han Chinese
Adjectives: Evangelical (no need for more)
Nuclear Family: Dad, Mom, Sister. (A typical vanilla
family, which is becoming a rarity in secular countries.)
Languages: “Evangelese” (a term made by Mrs. Hall of Emmanuel
Alliance Church of Ottawa, Bell’s
Corners, ON), English, Cantonese, French (a bit), Latin (a tiny bit), Sign
Language (alphabet and four words), several invented languages (which my sister
and I made).
*Confucius was a Chinese philosopher who taught things
which resembled Christian doctrine. (He taught people to be good. When he was
the governor (mayor) of a city in the (ancient) province of Lu, he taught the
citizens so well that soon there was so little crime that no one locked their
doors at night. He also taught people to live humbly, even though he himself
was descended of nobility.) Paraphrased: “Things that you don’t want, don’t do
to others.” (Check out the Analects…) He taught his pupils and the tuition fees
were different for each pupil. If they were rich, they would pay more money,
but if they were poor, he would accept something like two strips of dried meat
a year (almost nothing). He was an agnostic and told people that he “did not
know God” and therefore he did not teach people about that (because he didn’t
know about it and did not want to teach something possibly wrong) and he did
not want people to make up their own religion because they might do something
wrong. However, some people made something called “Confucianism”, which was
more like a way of life, but still, some people “worshiped” him like some
people do to saints (eeek).

He does not have a formal degree in theology, but he
knows more than most Bible college students. For example, he knows 1 Corinthians “like
insane”…

Her university, Cornell
University, an Ivy League
University, was rated the most stressful university in the whole of the United
States a few years ago.
Me: (Age : I was born exactly a century after the Eiffel Tower was
opened for the Universal Exposition in Paris.)
Soon a grade 11 gifted student at Lisgar
Collegiate Institute (LCI),
downtown Ottawa. The school (and subsequently, most, if not all, of the
teachers) are anti-Conservative/Evangelical/American. They have assemblies
which are (using a mitigated word) pro-choice. No need to say more. I am
annoyed and fed-up. It is also kind of famous as the second oldest school in
Ontario and it is the school some prominent Canadians (who really aren’t
prominent) went to. The school is also known for good academics (ahem…many
Chinese students (“stereotype! stereotype!”)), but I don’t see anything
outstanding about it. Though many students say they love LCI, I don’t because
it is too liberal (unfortunately, most schools in Canada are like that). Many
teachers teach liberal things and many students talk Liberalish. (I bet a googol
dollars that I am the most (and only?) truly evangelical conservative student
there.) I argued with other students on evolution, why murder is wrong, etc. It
is a rather good place to build up your debating skills and to learn how bad
the world is if you’re a Christian.
Some other random facts about me: 4-time National
Finalist in the Canadian Music Competitions in Piano Solo; winning 2nd Prize
twice, performance broadcast numerous times on local TV, Kiwanis Music Festival
things. I play piano good (grammar people: “well!” Well, I know I should use
“well”, so here goes: “I play piano well.”), violin (for school) not well, and
French Horn (for grade 7 and 8) even poorer still. I and my sister played
Tetris for SNES before and things in N64 but we (including our parents) are so
busy that we don’t have time to do much and anyways, the monitor is currently
in some other use. There was one of my webpage rants.
Book: The Bible
Country: The United States
Food: Hard to say - Authentic Chinese Food (Frog legs,
Snake Soup, Fish Stomach Soup, Peking Duck, Shredded Pig Ears, Cuttlefish,
Octopus, Shark Fin Soup etc.), some things with Indian curry, Japanese sushi
with good-quality wasabi almost saturated in soy sauce (generally any spicy
food), salmon (the type used in sushi), my mom’s cooking, etc.
Music: Classical Music ONLY. (Some Folkdances ex.
Romanian folkdances recorded by Bartòk count as Classical Music, as well as
Hungarian Folkdances by Brahms etc.) Jazz is okay. Pop Music is “euh!” (In
grade six, I was forced to carpool (“vanpool”) to school and the driver played
loud pop music, and I think he damaged my ears permanently - at that time, I
frequently heard ringing sounds in my ears in school.) “Music” with bad
things…NO WAY.
I like…
Baroque Music: Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, etc.
Classical Music: Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn, etc.
Romantic (not “Romance”) Music: Chopin, Mendelssohn,
Schubert, Granados, De Falla, Liszt, Wagner, Brahms, Dvořák, etc a lot etc like
insane etc.
Impressionist Music: DEBUSSY, etc.
Modern (not “Pop”) Music: Messiaen, Stravinsky, etc.
Paintings:
Paintings by people like Bougereau, Cole, Van Gogh,
Vermeer, Rembrandt, etc. NOT people like Rothko, Pollock, and things like
“Voice of Fire”, and sad things like “Yellow and Pink”. Those are just TOO sad.
Hobbies
·
Sleeping when I’m
tired. (Eating when I’m hungry? Drinking (normal things) when I’m thirsty?)
·
Playing the piano
(for my own pleasure and for God). Some of you might go: “WHAT? How do you do
that?” Well, I play with my sister, who plays violin, and we often play for our
church’s offertory to serve God in our church.
·
Talking with my dad
about the spiritual war in America; learning ethics.
·
Doing things with
Christians (aka fellowship). I’m not very good at that. Actually, that might
not be a hobby but it should be.
·
Arguing with liberal
non-Christians at school.
·
Staring at
information. (I look at maps too much - I could draw the US (and some other
countries) and label every state and capital and large city and know things
like EV and land area and stupid things nobody wants to know about (which makes
my dad say that I should do that stuff when I grow up or something).)
·
Things that should
be hobbies - praying, reading the Bible…I don’t do some things enough.
·
Reading some good
books.
·
Wasting time, which
is not a good thing.
·
I used to play
computer games and some video games but now I like them a lot less than the
average teenager (and rarely play).
Friend: Jesus (I need to work on making that stronger.)
Basically, all of America except: the downtowns of major
cities in the South, most west-coast cities, a casino resort-city in a desert,
a large metropolitan area stretching north to south located on a peninsula near
the tropics, the city which is next to Windsor, Ontario (which I don’t like too
much either), cheaters in some states near western Ontario (Wisconsin should be
Republican - too many cheaters), a city on Lake Erie in a state worth 20
electoral votes, two large cities (namely “city of brotherly love” and “cavity”
+ s + burger w/o the ‘er’), a line of cities stretching across MA all the way
to VA, a city (namely “nickname-of-director/executive-in-a-company” + “1000
kg”), a city (namely “spherical-object-used-in-many-sports” +
“short-for-Timothy” + antonym for “less”), Milwaukee and something SSE of
it…etc.
Basically, none of Canada except British Columbia not
including the Victoria and Vancouver area and the area around the north-west,
many Albertans, some Saskatchewans, some Manitobans, a few Ontarians, an
extremely few Maritimers, the few fed-up Quebecers…
Basically, none of Western Europe except the REAL
Christians (most of whom are fed-up and really annoyed).
I have a scheme in my head for all
Christian Europeans to move to Penn state to turn it into a red state - that
would ruin those Dem*****s’ spirit, and it would make it harder for them to win
the election! Or else they could move to the already red states to strengthen
the vote and to make the states worth more. For example, French Christians
could move to Des Moines or Baton Rouge to make it more conservative. (Let’s
see…4% of France goes to church. That makes around 3 million Christians in
France.) If you move all of them to Iowa, you’d double the population and make
it turn from 7 seats to 11. (Then again, it would take a long time to make so
many jobs and houses…) Or, you could get all the German Christians (4% of 80
million = 3.2 million) and move them to Milwaukee. Wisconsin would become red
and it would be worth 15, not 11. (OR! You could move all the Chinese
Christians from China to California! California would then have more than 100
million people! What would it be worth? 140? Haha.)
Many Africans and Asians and
Arabs risking their lives.
You get the point.

Some of these you would take
for granted but I’ll list them anyways because there are people who don’t have
some of these things. Also, if I were to have a complete list, I think that
would take a too long a time to compile so, obviously, I won’t take that much
time, and, obviously again, this list will be far from complete. Another thing
to note is that God gave me everything (and he owns everything I own including
me, if I even ‘own’ myself).
I have my “daily bread”- I have
food, water, and shelter. (Some of you would include space but I don’t think it
is an absolute necessity. Some people in some places live in cramped spaces. It
is necessary if you’re talking about the space everyone exists in because if
there wasn’t any, there would only be a vacuum and nothing would exist.)
I can see, hear, talk, taste,
touch, walk/run (without becoming short of breath for at least a while), use my
hands normally, take care of myself, and do many other things.
I have talents (ex. piano) that
God has given me.
I have many friends. (If I make
a list, it would be too long and I might forget some people.)
I was born in Canada (there is
a long story involved in why I was born in here). Canada is wealthy and very few
(if any) people are dying in starvation. (Even the beggars here are rich - I
frequently see smoking beggars in downtown, which is really stupid because
that’s how some of them squander the money they’re given. There are many
shelters around, many soup kitchens, and tons of welfare (for people who need
it AND for lazy able-bodied people who don’t even do one bit of work even if
they could). I am blessed to live here. Another blessing from living in Canada
is that I am literate (and computer-literate). Many people around the world are
not literate (and would definitely not be computer-literate either). Also, 20%
of Canadians go to church at least once a week (double the world wide rate,
estimated at 10%).
(Another rant: There are so
many criminals, right? Well, I believe in the death penalty for murder (murder
is “killing another person” but that doesn’t mean “killing another person for
self-defence and if you didn’t do it you would have died and there was no way
to avoid killing the person without dying yourself”). Anyways, there are also
many innocent poor people who work and do everything they’re supposed to do,
right? Well, there are some so-called “luxury prisons” where the murderers are
able to demand (and they get their demands) to go horse-riding, to eat gourmet
dishes, and to do whatever. Those murderers cost us (taxpayers) money to
maintain (keep them alive and happy) and anyways, those murderers live better
lives than innocent, poor, hard-working people. SOOO STUPID!)
Another thing about Canada: I (nor my family nor other true
Christians) am not being physically
persecuted for my faith. I said “physically” because it is true. We are not
being persecuted “physically”, but the truth is that Christians are being
persecuted EVERYWHERE (with the exception of St. Paul’s Basilica?). Yes, here
in Canada, and in Europe, and wherever else, we are being persecuted invisibly by corrupt and biased media,
corrupt governments (thank God they are not all too bad, and some are even
partially good, like the U.S.), corrupt/anti-Christian organizations, and many
other instruments of Satan. I said “invisibly” because, as you know, when you
say to the media (although I know nobody could say this anyways), “You are
persecuting my faith”, they simply shout you down with things like “We’re not
persecuting you, (unsaid) Jesus
freaks!” or “We are Christians just like you! How then are you saying that we
persecute Christians?” (However, they are not true Christians.) This is the world.
I have a computer and a
word-processing program to write (type) all these things down.
I was born into a supportive
Christian family and I am Christian (only Christians would understand why this
is a blessing).
As you can see, I am extremely
blessed by God and if I were to continue, I would run out of space.
First of all, you have to define the word “conservative”.
Here are some definitions.
Adjective. Favoring traditional views and values; tending to oppose
change.
Hmm…well, we have to define
“change”. It seems very much today that “change” means “changing the law” or
“changing things for change’s sake” (and usually the change is worse) etc. I
think (know) that the law is not relative and therefore cannot be changed, and
changing things so that they become worse just for change’s sake is STUPID.
A brilliant example of this is
the change in the interior design of the buses used in the OC (Ottawa-Carleton)
Transpo mass transit system in Ottawa. The buses being produced a decade ago
had 40 or so seats and enough space for 50 to stand (and there was leg space).
The buses being produced now have seats for 20, standing space for 20, and no
toe space (if you sat in those seats which face each other, your toes would
squish into the toes of the people facing you - and AWFUL design).
So…I guess I am conservative
(in this respect).
Noun. A supporter of political conservatism.
Oh, THIS one! Well, 50 or so
years ago, the term “political conservatism” did not have the same meaning as
it does today. (Reagan changed that.) So was the term “political liberalism”.
So, 50 or so years ago, these words had very different meanings from what they
mean today. Today, conservatism means things such as “REAL marriage (which is
man and woman) which lasts long, with children” and “prolife” (aka let the baby
live) and, generally, at least in America, “sincere,
evangelical, reformed, social, conservative, Christians” (from the pResBYteRian? Rev. Tristan Emmanuel’s
CD-track, “Christophobia”). Today, liberalism generally means, at least in
America, things such as abortion (aka murder the baby), euthanasia (aka
murder), pro-choice (aka murder), mainstream (aka anti-Christian), PC (aka
anti-Christian), anti-Christian, being nice (help the terrorists), BLAH!
Well, from all these points
made above, as an EVANGELICAL, it makes A LOT OF SENSE that I am conservative.
My parents had a major part in this. First of all, they
are pro-life so that’s why I’m alive and breathing this minute. Secondly, my parents
were real Christians before they married, and so I went to church with them at
a young age, went to Sunday School, and listened to pastors. I was only a child
at that time so I didn’t realize many things about being a Christian. (Now I
understand a lot more about those things.) I still have a LOT of spiritual
growth to do in my life (as does every Christian). I’m going off track.
Anyways, I became a Christian because I believe/d I was-am sinful and that only
Jesus could wipe my ‘resumé of sin’ clean forever. So I believed and I’m a
Christian. I believe, first of all, because I believe that Jesus died on the
cross to take away my (and everybody-who-accepts-His-gift-of-salvation+’s) sins
and I accept it (also because it is logical to accept a gift if not accepting
it leads to death).
Here goes one of my webpage rants (I don’t rant when I
talk to others but I am doing it right now only because I’m the only person
“talking” here). One logical thing
about not being atheist: this is by
Blaise Pascal, a Christian (some of you will say, “Well, I’m not gonna listen
to a Christian.” But it IS logical.) French Philosopher in the 17th century. He
said something like this (I’m paraphrasing it):
If
there is no God, then to not believe in God would do nothing (you’ll win the
argument and die). If there is no God, then to believe in a God would do
nothing (during your life, you have hope; you lose the argument and die). If
there IS God, and if you do not believe in God, something ‘bad’ may happen. If
there IS God, and you DO believe in God, then you’ll have hope during your
life, it turns out that you won the argument, and you don’t die!
This is from his book of his thoughts, Pensées
(which means “thoughts” in French).
The simple answer to the question (why am I a Christian)
is: I just chose to accept Jesus as my Lord and
Saviour. That’s all.
If any of the people reading this webpage are like me and
agree with the things I have written on this webpage, please email me (pengi@rogers.com) if you want your name posted up somewhere on this
webpage. I just want to know if there is anybody on earth who thinks like me,
especially teenagers, who are the least likely to think like me. I know that it
is highly unlikely that I will receive any emails. I also know that almost all
of the people who might email me are Americans. (If you are going to email me,
please tell me where you live - probably 99% of you would be from the Bible Belt or
something…)
