Built during the reign of Jiaqing (1522-1566) of the Ming dynasty, the Garden to Linger In covers an area of over 3 hectares in western Suzhou. Among the attractions are the spacious Nanmu Hall, the beautiful Mandarin Duck Hall and the "Peak Above the Clouds", which is a huge rock.

The garden is intricately designed, providing a changing scene at every turn and visitors enjoy the lakes, hills, rock formations and greenery. A 700 meter (2,300ft) covered walkway connects all the major sites. This walkway has windows that provide interesting views of the garden and is inscribed with calligraphy from famous masters.
