Pennine Polocrosse Club Newsletter
Christmas 2001

Hello again everyone!! Here’s another issue of the club newsletter, just to fill you in on things that have happened in our club over the last few weeks. Also, seeing as it’s Christmas, this is a festive newsletter, with a bit of history about our club and a quick quiz, which should give your brain cells a holiday exercise!! Anyway, let’s get going…

CONGRATULATIONS!!
Firstly, well done to all our members who have been chosen for the various UKPA Squads, and also those of you who were chosen as reserves. So congrats to; Martin Brookes, Penny Beaumont, Lizzie Wright-Roberts, Guy Robertson, James Robertson, Edward Beckerlegge, Ollie Beckerlegge and Anna Robertson, and also well done to everyone who have become accredited umpires, I’m sure you won’t want to blow your own whistles though will you?! (Do you see what I’ve done there?!)

FUNDRAISING
As you all know, we’ve had a couple of fundraising events over the non-playing months, which have been a great success. Although I’m unsure how much the show jumping raised, the auction raised a total of £1060.50, which is a fantastic achievement and great news for the club. Thank you to everyone for helping with them, and remember we need to support these activities in the closed season if we all want to be part of a successful club next year.

ON-FOOT PRACTISES
A number of on-foot practises have been arranged for the New Year. As usual they are on Saturdays at Penistone Sports Centre and are from 2pm – 3pm. The dates are;
-January 19th and 26th 2002
- February 16th and 23rd 2002
- March 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd 2002
On-foot practices are always good fun, not to mention good ways of burning off those Christmas calories, so do your best to get along to them.

FOR SALE
I understand the Hobsons have a horse for sale so if you’re interested or know anyone who might be, get in touch with them to find out more.

QUICK FESTIVE QUIZ (YEY!)
Here are a few quick questions for you to answer and the first one to contact me with the right answers wins…absolutely nothing because I’m a poor student!!!
1. Which member of our club has been mistaken for singing legend Kenny Rogers on a number of occasions?!
2. Who is well known for losing his clothes at any opportunity, whether encouraged to or not?!
3. Who celebrated their birthday at the ball in November in almost-ankle breaking and spewtastic style?!
4. Which club member fell asleep at a party, returning to bed 20 minutes later saying “Oh that party was boring, I’ve been trying to get away for hours”?!!!

All that’s left to say is that I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas and that Santa brings you everything you want!! Enjoy the New Year and I’ll see you all in 2002!
