Silver Ley 22nd/23rd June 2002
This competition is another long drive for Pennine and last year it was the
Silver Ley tournament that made a proper start to the season after the foot
and mouth outbreak. The 2001 weather provided excellent conditions for polocrosse
and hopefully that will be repeated this year.
The clubs move to their new base of Brights Farm, near Bramfield in Suffolk, has provided excellent facilities for the tournament. Plentiful wash-down areas for the horses and a couple of well-tended pitches will probably help to produce an excellent weekends competition for players and spectators.
York and Ainsty - 22nd/23rd June 2002
The York and Ainsty
tournament is another Pony Club occasion which focuses on training for the Saturday
with a friendly competition the following day. Teams tend to be made up from
people of mixed abilities, regardless of their club membership and this produces
a fairly even competition.
Many Pennine members
originated from the York and Ainsty Pony Club so we regularly attend this event
as well as the previous Percy Hunt Pony Club weekend. Also, most of our club
members first came in to contact with polocrosse through their Pony Clubs so
many are willing to lend their support to such events. Again, our members fulfil
the role of trainers, providing players with valuable training and tactical
advice with noticeable improvement from many people.
This is always a wonderfully relaxed weekend with all ages and abilities mixing socially and having fun which is what polocrosse is all about.
