Dear Lord, We thank you for the
grand and amazing plan by which faith in Christ is shared from parent to child,
from teacher to student, from friend to friend. We thank you that faith leaps
the chasm of language and nation, breaks through class and prejudice, and
unites people of all colors and creeds. We praise you for those who have been
our parents in the faith. Bless us now that we might follow more faithfully the
One who taught us to pray.

Meeting for all those interested in a Mission trip to Mexico in October.
Wednesday, May 14 @ 7 p.m.
In case you didn’t get
your closets and garage cleaned out in time for the trailer to go to Utica last
month – you have another chance. Pastor John will be going on a Men’s Clean up
at Pathfinder Lodge and will make a stop in Utica for a drop off. Be sure to
have your items to him/the church by Thursday, May 15.
All-Church
Clean-Out Workday
Saturday, May 17, 9am-noon
This is a
great serving opportunity. Wear your work clothes and work gloves. Stay for an
hour or the morning.
Next month’s
newsletter will be a combination of June/July. All articles need to be in to
the church office by May 20.
Mark your calendars
for Saturday, May 31 at 8:30 a.m. We
will have our annual meeting with election and installation of officers. The
meeting will be here at the church and simple breakfast will be served.
Throughout the summer
there will be a box in the sanctuary marked for Undies Sunday. Your donations
of children’s underwear, sox, tee shirts etc can go into this box which will
then be delivered to Cameron Center in Rochester. Today marks the starting date
of this outreach event. When you go shopping, pick up a package or two. Your
donation will go a long way to making a child feel a little better!
The Basics of
Becoming a Proactive Parent – this 4 week series will meet after services
beginning June 1. Class time will be 35-45 minutes. See Eileen Modaffari for
more information.
Reaching
out to a Friend in Need
Rides are still
needed from Geneva General Dialysis Center for Cheryl Wood. Cheryl has a ride
to dialysis from the Office for the Aging bus, however she needs a ride home at
7:30 p.m. A volunteer has come forward for May 20; rides are still needed for
May 27 & 29. Please call the church office if you can help.
Worship
Committee
We are
seeking people who might be interested in
helping
plan and orchestrate our Sunday morning
worship
services. How many times have you had an
idea or
suggestion for a sermon topic or for a song
that would
have tied in perfectly with the message Pastor Tharp presented that morning?
Maybe you’re interested in drama and would enjoy seeing a skit once in a while.
Perhaps you are a great organizer and love to plan or you would like to take
part in PR to promote upcoming special worship events to reach out and bring in
some of the unchurched in our community. As you can see, the possibilities are
endless. So we’re asking you to prayerfully think about the gifts God has given
you and consider being a part of our Worship Committee. If you’re interested,
or would like more information, please contact Pastor Tharp, George Jensen, or
Pam Scutt.
Thank
you
To George Jensen for cleaning the carpets in the building.
We would like to remind you
that the chapel is open for you to use for quiet mediation and prayer. There is
a basket provided for prayer request.
Materials and help needed for the
Vacation Bible School – June 30 – July 3
“Ancient Jerusalem Marketplace”
This year the VBS staff has a great time
planned for the children, but we can always use more help. We have a need for
some donated items for the Marketplace. Check out the list below and see how
you may be able to help. What a great way to serve others!
Beads, tassels, bracelets,
earrings, necklaces, small jingle bells and small seashells that may be drilled
and made into necklaces.
Artificial plants and
flowers for lend.
Old colored striped sheets
that can be made into robes by Jean Brewer.
We can’t do any of this
without our teachers!
If you should have any of these items (check out yard sales)
they may be left with Barbara Burke 536-7020 or Suzy Willson 585-526-1004.
Thank you, we know how pressed everyone is for time these days so we do
appreciate all that you can do for VBS!
