Pots
& Pans Drive for Karin Families
Next month
100 Karen (Burmese) Baptists from refugee camps in Thailand will be arriving in
Utica under the auspices of Utica Tabernacle Baptist Church. Donations of
general household goods and warm clothing of all sizes (adult & children)
are needed. A table has been set up in the great room to receive your
donations. Pick-ups can be arranged. For more information see Barbara Burke
(536-7020).
Attention
Knitters & Crochetters
Do you
have left-over yarn? I am collecting 6-inch squares to put together for a quilt
that will be donated to the Keuka Comfort Care Home from our church. Any color
or pattern is fine, just remember to keep it as close to a 6-inch square as you
can. Look for the decorated basket at each entrance where you can leave your
squares. Thanks for joining me in this group mission project to help others
right here in our community.
See Pam
Scutt (536-2791).

In
addition to our regular church school classes this year, we will begin a Young
Families Group. Consider joining us on Sunday, September 16 after service to
learn more. Eileen Modifarri
Association
Fall Rally
The Finger Lakes Baptist
Association Fall Rally will be held on Sunday, September 16, at Reed Corners
Church with registration beginning at 3 p.m. The program will be guest speaker
Dr. Mustafa Abushagur on “Getting to Know Our Muslim neighbors.” A dish to pass supper will be held at 5 p.m.
(Bring your own table service) Out of respect for the guest speaker we are
requesting that none of the menu items contain pork, which Muslims do not use.
All interested persons are invited to attend the afternoon program and stay for
dinner if they wish. Church representatives should plan to stay for the evening
business session.
Pathfinder Lodge Roads
In the terrible storms of Spring 2006, several sections of a main
access road at our Eastern ABCNYS camping location, Pathfinder Lodge, were
washed out. Temporary repairs made it possible for the Camp to operate last
summer, but a later storm damaged the road again. Again this year the road was
repaired for the camping season, but much remains to be done. A donor has
offered to match total gifts received up to $20,000, toward repairs estimated to
cost at least three times that amount. As of this week, $8,875.50 has been
raised with $4,010 of this coming from the Booster Club Campaign of the
American Baptist Men/NYS (our church’s Board of Mission sent $200 for this
Campaign). If you would like to make a contribution to this important project,
you may put your gift in an envelope marked “Pathfinder Lodge Road Repair
Fund”, and our Missions Treasurer will see that it gets sent to the proper
account.

table by the office. Donations of baked goods are also welcome. FBC contacts
