HISTORICAL PHOTOS
OF OUR BUILDINGS

There are no known pictures of the first church, built in 1835
However, it's steeple can be glimpsed in this 1841 woodcut

The Baptist Church's steeple is a little to the right of center
At the far right is the Presbyterian Church, then at 305 Main St.

Below is an enlarged section of the woodcut
showing the steeple to the left of the Court House

A section of a similar engraving shows a less slender
steeple atop what appears to be a greek revival roofline

The 1835 building was torn down in 1870 to make room for the present building

THE PRESENT BUILDING - DEDICATED MAY 17, 1871
showing the original 120 foot steeple

This OLD STEREO VIEW was used to make this OLD ENGRAVING
found in The New York Daily Graphic, November 1, 1878

BY 1904 THE STEEPLE HAD BEEN REBUILT

134 years old in 2005
