![]() An extract is defined as a concentrated form of the herb obtained by mixing the fresh or dried herb with an appropriate solvent. This solvent can be alcohol and/or water, vegetable glycerin or Vinegar. This method can result in either a TINCTURE or an EXTRACT. TINCTURES are usually made at a 1:5 concentration. This means that one part of the herb (in Grams) is soaked in five parts liquid (in milliliters of volume). This results in five times the amount of the solvent compared to the herbs in the Tincture. EXTRACTS are more concentrated than tinctures. A fluid herbal extract is usually a 1:1 concentration, therefore, a fluid extract is typically at least four (4) times as potent when compared to an equal amount of tincture. We use a 1.1 concentration in our Extracts ensuring that you have a STONGER and more POTENT Extract, than many Tinctures. Your Extract will, because of its concentrated form, enable you to use less of the Extract than you would a normal Tincture to obtain the desired effect. Penny’s Herbal Remedies, using only Organic or Wildcrafted Herbs soaks the Herb or Herbs in the necessary solvent for at least 14 days, following the cycles of the moon, and, in many cases for as long as one year. This ensures that ALL the needed phyto-chemicals are extracted. The extract is then cold-pressed from the herb (NO HEAT IS USED IN THIS PROCESS) so ensuring that you will receive ALL the benefits from the Healing properties of the Herbs used.
