A Path
Beyond
This
map is the most commonly used one on tournament, whether because
of the fact that it offers fairly even chance for respective
locations or because it's the first in the list - probably a bit
of both.
There
are gems in corners and a second field near each. Lots more
written about this & other more popular maps on other sites.
Island Wars
A
good even map, & good for a longer type game.
Build order: sm pwr, barracks, ore, war, sm pwr, repair, ore, sm
pwr, war, ore... Key on this map is controlling more
ground. Use soldiers to scout early. Build a few
tanks then a mcv, deploy on next island or area. Build
another mcv after you have 3rd war, and keep building. If
opponent is allies, then don't forget this map has water -
destroy all naval yards as soon as possible. Keep tanks
grouped at advance base, repel if early attack &
counter. Send 6 tanks around the long way - this will stop
any similar guerilla move, and if enemy is unprepared and your 6
tanks (med or heavy) make it all the way they can cause
significant damage.
Shallow
Grave
This
scenario is mostly water - one way if you are Allies is build
naval first and attack with destroyers. Takes practice to
beat a player who is skilled on this map so if you like it and
want to learn or like a challenge, look for it in others channels
and play higher ranks. Look for more hints on this map in other
RA sites.
Treasure
Island
This
map would appear to offer an even chance, except if you
lose your ore truck early. Conversely - as soon as you have
4 or 5 tanks you can attack ore trucks. Remember that ore slows
units, so if you want to get tanks across fast then go round
outside.
Allies
may have an advantage from the lake if game goes longer & you
get to higher tech stage - cruisers & destroyer escorts can
be used, but the mud bridges mean units could become redundant as
you advance your base.. If you are Soviet, the only answer
to an established allied naval base is to don't let it
happen! Destroyers are hell on water for migs and choppers,
and are effective against smaller groups of tanks. V2's
can't get at the destroyers because of cruiser cannons.
