The newest ship of the Spanish Navy carry aids for $3,3 million which will be distributed by the International Cooperation spanish agency. It also carry logistics and a 100 meter Bayley bridge to reestablish comunications between Honduras and Nicaragua. The Galicia will arrive Puerto cortes (Honduras) on december the 7th, Puerto Corinto (Nicaragua) on dec. 15th, on dec 19th to Acajutla (El Salvador), and to Puerto Quetzal (Guatemala), on dec 22 th.
The Galicia carries 362 infantery people, 3 helicopters and medical personal. The personal will stay in the zone for 6 months and will be releved periodically.
The aircraft carrier, which has been recieved by the Admiral in chief of the Thailan navy, admiral Wichit Chammankam has a dimensions of 182,6x22,5x18,5 (meters) , a desplacement of 11.400 tons and a range of 1000 miles at 12 knots and a complement of 601 men.
The responsable of the proyect at Bazan shipbuilders, Natalio Rodriguez, said that the agreement to build the ship was signed in march 1992 and the ship is comissioned 58 months later.
The new aircraft carrier of the Thailan navy will stay next to Ferrol
until may 17, when she will go to Rota Headquarters (Cadiz), where its complement
will make some exercises with other spanish warships.
