Demag AG developed Sd.Kfz.10.
From 1937 to 1945, some 25000 were produced (14698 from 1939 to 1945) by
Demag, Adler, Buessing-NAG, Saurer and Phaenomen. 7500 were converted to
leichter Schuetzenpanzerwagen / Sd.Kfz.250 - light personnel carriers.
17500 Demag half-tracks saw service with the German Army. Involved in
production was also MIAG and MNH. Attempts were made to use the industrial
capacity of French companies to increase production but it was never materialized.
Single Sd.Kfz.10 cost 15000RM. The vehicle was also used as a weapon platform
for 20mm Flak, 37mm Pak and 50mm Pak guns as well for specialized variants.
On December 20th of 1942, German Army had some 11116 vehicles in service.
There were 2255 in service as of March 1st of 1945.
Sd.Kfz.10 was also produced in following variants:
Sd.Kfz.10/1 - Gasspurekraftwagen (gas detecting vehicle),
Sd.Kfz.10/2 - Entgiftungskraftwagen (decontamination vehicle),
Sd.Kfz.10/3 - Spruhkraftwagen (sprinkler),
Sd.Kfz.10/4 - mount for 20mm Flak 30 anti-aircraft gun,
Sd.Kfz.10/5 - mount for 20mm Flak 38 anti-aircraft gun.
