Small number was produced and introduced into service using the Alte (older) chassis in the Spring of 1943 and in October of 1944, it was reintroduced using the Neue (newer) chassis. These vehicles were issued to 4th Platoon of the Leichter Panzer Aufklaerungs (light armored reconnaissance) companies.
