The LSTs spend much of their time cruising solo. An
opportunity to visit with a sister ship is aways a welcome
break in the routine. Sailors love to tell sea stories,
brag about their ship, describe how great their last
liberty was, etc, etc, etc.
The unguarded gangway between rafted vessels is an
invitation to come aboard and visit. Did we visit? You bet
we did.
So long sister. You know the words. Until we meet again
heres wishing you a happy voyage home.
Many days were spent hauling Marines and their equipment to
various locations in the far east.
You can tell from the happy expression on Bob Sozas' face
that he is anticipating better times in Tom Greens' home
port.
Five LSTs rafted together is an unusual sight. The stories
that were exchanged were out of this world. Tom Green is
the LST with the red leaded fanny.
