The following is from a communication sent to various pastors by Chaplain Rita A. Lemons, HQ Air Force Recruiting Service, indicating that the United States Air Force is actively recruiting chaplains:

Dear Pastor

Our contemporary military is rich in religious and cultural diversity. Chaplains provide sacramental and pastoral care to Air Force personnel and their families. The Air Force offers qualified pastors opportunities to serve in a challenging pluralistic global environment.

The Air Force affords all chaplains the opportunity for a broad range of ministries, an attractive salary, and a comprehensive benefits package. If you or someone you know may be interested, call me at 1-800-803-2452 or email me at lemonsr@afrs.rs.af.mil.

To qualify as a chaplain, a pastor must:

be a United States citizen
have two years pastoral experience minimum
be under age 42 (age may vary with prior military service)
pass a commissioning physical
have an ecclesiastical endorsement
have a bachelor's degree (120 hours) and a Master of Divinity or equivalent graduate program (90 hours) from accredited institutions

The Air Force Chaplain Service is committed to support and serve a globally engaged Air Force community. We remain steadfast in a changing world environment. Consider the possibility of serving as a chaplain in the United States Air Force.

God bless you and your present ministry.

Sincerely,
Chaplain Rita A. Lemons
