a. Converting the 101st is fine -- much of it is too light and lacking in tactical mobility to be relevant in many settings. They should leave the 3ID alone until/unless they are ready to restructure it into battle groups along the lines Colonel MacGregor proposes.
b. The Joint Fires Control Teams are a great idea, but what makes them joint if they are all Army guys being trained by the Army? They need to go through AF tactical air control training if they want to be considered good enough to be enabled to call in AF airstrikes. The Army doesn't have enough people who can do the ALO/FAC's job as well as their own under the stresses of combat.
