Pikachu> Catwalks - Gringy Power Plant
Pikachu>
Pikachu> Obvious exits:
Pikachu> Down <D> leads to Generator Room - Gringy Power Plant.
Pikachu> Jeffie arrives from Generator Room - Gringy Power Plant.
Pikachu> Jeffie has arrived.
Pikachu> Jeffie comes climbing up the ladder to the catwalk slowly, a little nervously but grinning the whole time nonetheless. As he gets to the top of the catwalk he adjusts the backpack that he had slung over one shoulder to now be fully on his back, and starts to slowly and carefully walk along the catwalk. He glances around with curiosity as he does.
A Retwa flares its wings and protects the database. (Saving)
Pikachu> No matter how heavy the storm outside is, it's still as quiet as a tomb inside the Power Plant. It's not quite as dark - for whatever inexpicable people, things are just barely visible in the darkness. Not that a flashlight won't help, of course. Sitting there on the catwalk, biting his nails practically to the stub, is a baby Pikachu, his eyes full of fear, his chest heaving in and out drastically. Something's got him awfully worked up - but it's very likely that without a source of light, Jeffie won't be able to see the little guy.
Pikachu> Jeffie pauses after a few steps, finally remembering why he had his pack slung over one shoulder before. He pulls it off again and opens it up, pulling out the flashlight he was using before the climb. He flips it on, and gives it a couple whacks to get it working. It's a dim light, likely low on battery power. He pulls his pack back on, and then flashes the dim light around as he's walking. Still, he's almost stepping on the little Pikachu before he finally shines the light in the right direction. He blinks and takes a quick step back, "Sorry!" He then crouches down, "Hi there."
Pikachu> The Pikachu's teeth are chattering so loud, he doesn't even hear the trainer approach. In fact, the human's presence goes completely unnoticed by the toddler until Jeffie starts to speak. The yellow mouse's eyes widen even further, and, shaking he's caught in a blender, the pokemon turns his head and looks straight... at... Jeffie. There's a moment of silence, before... "Pikaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!" ... Oh, no. Jameka had kids or something. The Pikachu screams at the top of his lungs, and it is *loud*. Dust falls off the ceiling. An Electabuzz cries out in pain. A window in the distance shatters.
Pikachu> Jeffie blinks in surprise and falls back to a sitting position. His hands go to his ears protectively as he cringes, "Hey, hey, it's ok... not gonna hurt ya." As if it could hear him over the scream. He decides to risk his ears after a moment, one hand coming away from his ear and pulls his pack off, digging through until he finds the Pokemon Treats that Chance likes so much. He pulls some out of the package and drops them down in front of the little Pikachu. Then he brings his hand back up so he's again covering both ears until the scream stops.
Pikachu> The Pikachu continues screeching, pointing a halfway-chewed nail at Jeffie. He doesn't try to run, he doesn't try to fight, he just screams. It's actually somewhat annoying. <Aaaaaaaahhhh!> He continues, squeezing his eyes shut and giving the floor a quick pound. <Aaaaaaaahhhh! Help!! Heeeelp! Heeeelp! I - oo, food!> And suddenly he's as quiet as a mouse (no pun intended), clumsily ascending to two paws and reaching out for the food with grubby, greedy little paws, his eyes burning with delight.
Pikachu> Jeffie smiles with relief as the screaming stops, slowly lowering his hands. He considers a moment, and then pulls a Pokeball off his belt and turns to release Chance behind him, (and hopefully out of view of the timid Pikachu). "Need your help. Can you translate for me?" "Char!" <Ok!> Jeffie looks back, and says softly to the Pikachu, "Want some more?" He pulls out a few more treats, holding them out in his hand this time.
Pikachu> The Pikachu plops back on his bottom, munching away on the treats cheerfully... sort of. Apparently, the little mouse is too young to have grown all of his teeth yet, so he sort of crams the food into his mouth and proceeds to break it up with his tongue, drooling all over himself in the process. As Jeffie starts to speak again and move closer to the Pikachu, the little mouse furrows his eyebrows and gives the boy a quick glare before eyeing the treats. Saliva dripping from his mouth and little crumbs falling onto his chest, the pokemon manages a garbled little, <Why an't yew udder da ztarecash?> What in the world did he just say?
Pikachu> Jeffie continues to hold the treats out towards the Pikachu, giggling a little as he watches. When the Pikachu talks again, Jeffie glances back to Chance, but the little Charmander looks perplexed. She peeks out from behind Jeffie to ask, <What did you say?> Jeffie blinks a bit and looks forward again, but stays where he is, simply holding the treats out still. He doesn't want to scare the mouse away. "Sorry, I don't understand," he offers softly.
Pikachu> The Pikachu rolls his eyes, and continues tonguing the food, drooling so heavily it's a wonder Pikachu don't have the attack Hydro Pump. After a few moments, the yellow mouse gets the food soggy enough to swallow. The entire process of eating completed, the pokemon repeats his question - though this time, one can actually understand him. <Why aren't you under the staircase?> Nervously rubbing his paws into the ground, the Pikachu adds, <Monsters usually lurk there if you don't have a bed.>
Pikachu> Jeffie listens to the translation, and then blinks. He smiles then and says, "Cause I'm not looking for scary monsters. I'm looking for a friend. Wanna be my friend?" Chance, on the other hand, takes a different interpretation of the question, and says, <He's no monster! He's a trainer. He teaches me and looks after me, and I protect him.> Jeffie blinks again, but then nods and offers, "I can look after you too, if you want."
Pikachu> The Pikachu turns his head to the side, crossing his paws across his chest (accidentally dropping his treats in the process) and generally just sort of looking down on Jeffie. <No!> he squeaks stubbornly, speaking very matter-of-factly as though he feels like he's a genius for knowing this information. <You're a monster under the staircase! You want to be nice to me and trick me into going under the staircase so you can eat me!> The Pikachu blinks, glancing down at the treats on the ground. <... Are you using these to try and lure me?> 'Lure'? A baby wouldn't know that word. Has he heard this 'information' before?
Pikachu> Jeffie pulls his feet up so he's sitting cross-legged, and tilts his head slightly at the Pikachu. He doesn't want to hurt a baby, and so that leaves simply trying to convince it. He shakes his head, after hearing the translation, and says, "I promise, I don't want to eat you. I'm a trainer, I want to teach pokemon, not eat them." Then he gets an idea, and slowly pulls his Pokedex off his belt. "See? This helps me learn about pokemon, tells me what they are and what they're like." And to demonstrate, he presses the button to scan the Pikachu. Then he tilts his head, and asks, "Who told you about those monsters?"
> Jeffie is attempting to scan your Pikachu. '+scan/approve Jeffie Pikachu' or '+scan/reject Jeffie Pikachu'.
> Scan approved.
Pikachu> The Pikachu scoffs. "Pika!" he exhales, lifting his chin up and yet again turning his head away from Jeffrey. <You just want to know how tasty they are, you big mean old monster under the staircase.> The yellow pokemon, caught in a fit of passion, leaps up to both paws, pointing a somewhat accusing paw at Jeffie, ferocity furrowing his freshly fuzzy face fanatically. <What do Pikachus taste like, huh? Are we nice and crispy and tasty...> Pause. <Like...> Pause. He glances down at the treats on the floor. <Like the treats on the ground...> The Pikachu's tail twitches uncertainly.
Pikachu> Jeffie blinks and scoots back slightly from the ferocious look. He shakes his head quickly and says, "I promise! I don't eat pokemon!" Chance quickly comes around to stand protectively in front of her trainer then. Jeffie blinks and says, "Hey, wanna see what I do eat?" He digs in his pack and pulls out a sandwhich. He unwraps it and shows it to the Pikachu. "See, it's just got peanut butter in it. Promise! I don't eat Pikachu at all."
A Retwa flares its wings and protects the database. (Saving)
Pikachu> The Pikachu glances at the monster for a moment, cocking his head very slowly. His head slowly goes from the boy's eyes down to the sandwich, with the yellow mouse peers at and approaches with caution. Should Jeffie allow, the Pikachu will reach his paw out and... yeah, pretty much rub it all along the peanut butter sandwich, as if testing to find the organs of pokemon or something.
Pikachu> Jeffie doesn't object at all, he can always get another sandwich. He keeps the sandwich held out, and says softly to Chance, "Let 'im come up." Chance steps back again and settles in to watch. <You can trust him,> she offers again.
Pikachu> The Pikachu places his hand on the sandwich, and begins twirling the peanut butter around his paws. He pushes a little over to the side, pokes a little hole in the sandwich, and generally just makes a rather big mess with his grummy little paws. Finally, he takes a little up... and... Sticks his paw into his mouth, tasting the peanut butter. <It doesn't...> He pauses. <It doesn't *taste* like Grimer...>
Pikachu> Jeffie giggles a little as he watches the mouse play with the sandwich, and holds it steady as he waits for it to examine it. He smiles as Chance translates, and says, "See, it's peanut butter." Then he tilts his head slightly and asks curiously, "What's Grimer?"
Pikachu> The Pikachu gestures to the sandwich, giving Jeffie an evil little glare. <That doesn't look like any pokemon I've ever seen...> he comments softly, very suspicious of the human. <Where are you hiding the Voltorb and Magnemites that you're going to eat later?> With a hyper little pounce, the mouse bounces to the side, his eyes locked on the trainer's pack. The Pikachu points. <Are they in there? Can I see? Please please please please?>
Pikachu> Jeffie shakes his head and says, "I don't eat Pokemon, Chance here is my friend. Known her for years and years." Ok, so it's only been two years, but to a ten-year-old that's still a long time. Then he shakes his head, "No pokemon in there. Yeah, I'll show you." He opens up the pack, dumping it partially out and letting the mouse explore from there by itself. There's clothes, another sandwich, a couple of chocolate bars, and a few spare empty Pokeballs.
Pikachu> Junk. Junk junk ju-... Wait a second. The Pikachu eyes one particular object in the pack with great interesting, his eyes peering over it with great interest. Into the pack goes the top half of the Pikachu as he attempts to grab... one of the pokeballs. <Is this a Voltorb?> he asks. <I think this is a Voltorb. But it's really, really small!> His mouth should come across as muffled and odd with his head inside the pack. Unless Jeffie or his pokemon pulls the Pikachu out early, the yellow one will emerge with the pokeball clutched between his paws.
A Retwa flares its wings and protects the database. (Saving)
Pikachu> Jeffie doesn't pull the Pikachu out, giggling a little as he watches. Ok, so it's making a mess, but he can clean it up later, as long as nothing goes falling off the walkway. He blinks as the Pikachu comes out with the Pokeball, and shakes his head. "That's a Pokeball." He looks to Chance, "I'm gonna show him, ok?" The Charmander gives a nod and Jeffie pulls Chance's ball off his belt. "See, we use it to hold our friends, so they can be protected. Like, when I go outside I'll put Chance in hers so she won't get wet. Charmanders don't like getting wet." He demonstrates, recalling Chance to the Pokeball, and then calling him out of it again a second later.
Pikachu> The Pikachu just sort of boggles at the entire scene, one eye triple the size of the other, before simply shrieking a loud, <Aaaaaaaaiiiiiieee!> Pointing a trembling finger at the boy, he screeches a loud, <You ate her! You ate her! You ate her! I knew you were the monster under the staircase, you ate her!> He seems to ignore the fact that she was sent back out. Still screaming, the Pikachu turns tails and dives off the ground, sprinting away from Jeffie... and, appropriately, smashing right into the wall. *crash!* <... Ow...>
Pikachu> That worked well. Jeffie winces and starts to say something, then his eyes widen a little as the mouse crashes into the wall. "Hey, you alright?" He pulls another empty Pokeball, one of a couple he keeps within easy reach on his belt. He says, "I know, I'll get you to a PokeCenter, make sure you ain't hurt." He tosses the ball.
Pikachu> Jeffie throws a pokeball...
Pikachu> ...and it works.
Pikachu> The pokeball bonks the Pikachu right on the head, causing the furry guy to make a loud squeak before he vanishes in a flash of pink light. The ball absorbs the pokemon and falls to the ground, rolling, shaking... and finally falling lifeless. Jeffie is now the proud owner of a baby Pikachu. So cute!
Pikachu> Jeffie gives a little cheer, and stands up, quickly running over to pick up the ball, hooking it onto his belt beside Chance's. He then steps back and grins to his Charmander, "We got a new friend. C'mon, let's get this cleaned up." He starts to clean up the mess.
Pikachu has been captured by Jeffie. 'This Pikachu is very afraid of the dark, and is also scared of kiddie fears: monsters under the bed (or staircase), the boogey man, and so forth. Unfortunately, he's also lightly curious, which sometimes gets him in trouble. His third HP can be applied for in October, and his fourth HP, in December, supposing Jeffie leaves him out of his pokeball enough.' set as its staff note.
