I played guitar (as well as a few other things: in Triaxis I also
write the songs and handle lead vocal chores) on all these albums so if
you want to hear how I play, go out and buy them. You won't be sorry. :-)
1994: Rivermaya, "Rivermaya" (Musiko/BMG)
This is the album that got me into the the music biz. It has some pretty
good tunes and the guitar sounds I got were the best at the time. (Syempre!
*lol*)
1996: Wolfgang, "SEMENELIN" (Epic/Sony Music Phils.)
This is my first album production for a major label. It went on to
sell over double platinum in the Philippines alone. An all-English version
of this album was also released internationally. It was a blast recording
this and it remains as my most favorite Wolfgang album; sound, song and
guitar-wise.
1996: Triaxis, "Further Down the Bend" (Epic/Sony music Phils.)
This is my band's debut album. We went into recording for this one
as soon as I finished producing Semenelin.I have to admit that some of
the demos I did in my studio sounds better than the actual CD but ain't
that how it usually goes? Maybe if I could mix it again..........
1997:Backdraft, "The Shadowland Deep" (Neo/Viva Records)
I got a call from the Viva people asking me to produce Backdraft's
2nd album. I accepted and this has been my heaviest project to date. I
mean HEAVY!!! The recording dates were pretty intense since I had to juggle
producer duties, engineering duties and gigs with Triaxis. I somehow pulled
it off and finished production. Too bad Viva released this album in cassette
format only, it doesn't give justice to the great sound this album has.
Oh well.....
1998: Triaxis, "Who We Are" (Epic/Sony Music Phils.)
I learned from my mistakes during the recording of the 1st album, so
I recorded all the tracks in my own project studio instead of them big,
commercial ones. We camped in my studio for a whole month straight, recording
every night. This was a great way to work since we didn't have to worry
about the clock ticking, so we had all the time to nail the perfect part.
And since we recorded the demos in the same studio, we lifted some tracks
off them to use in the final product. It's also rife with "happy accidents"
and the entire vibe of the recording somehow crept into this album's sound.
1999: Marc Velasco, "Marc Velasco" (Epic/Sony Music Phils.)
I've been known as a "rock" producer so people were surprised to learn
that I sat in the producer's chair for this pop/folk album. Actually, I
produced, engineered, played guitar, guitar synth, trap drums, percussion,
sang backup vocals, mixed and mastered this baby! The fun factor for me
was that I was able to play on record stuff I don't normally do, like the
faux jazz of the cut "Angel" and the classical guitar in "Tanging
Ikaw", which means I'M NOT JUST A ROCK GUY!!! *lol*
The album sounds really good, the songs are great and I hear that it's
selling really well all over the country.
