Sugar, Carbohydrates, & Acid in Apples

Simple Carbohydrates are often called "sugars" because they elicit varying levels of sweetness.

The carbohydrates contained in an apple are: fructose, glucose, and sucrose (glucose + fructose).

Glucose and fructose are monosaccharides; sucrose is a disaccharide.

Apples also contain carbohydrates called "fibres".  Fibres are non-starch polysaccharides.  The fibres contained in apples are:
