I wish this was all a nightmare
Like the ones you have as a child
That wake you in the heart of night
They leave you cuddling to your blanket
And calling for Mother
Who will come into your room
And say that everything will be okay
I will wake up tomorrow
And lay my head on your shoulder
Your strong arms will be around me
To keep me safe
Your arms will calm this shaking
And defeat these twisted fears
As your fingertips gently wipe away a cold tear
And send goosebumps traveling down to me knees
This feels so real that it hurts
I realize that I am still
In this unbearable nightmare
When will it be over?
Tonight I will crawl into bed
The next morning, I will wake up to a different dream
The kind that will fill this heart with joy
And I will see it as my true reality
