Book of Enoch

The Book of Enoch is an Ethiopic Text from the Qumran Society, and commonly called one of the Dead Sea scrolls. The book itself has little or nothing to do with the Enochian system as it stands, although it was theorised that Dee had obtained a copy of it in his travels, but was unable to translate it. Either way, it is more than likely that Dee was familiar with the story of Enoch and his travels with God and the angels, and even saw himself (and possibly Kelley) as modern versions of the character Enoch.

Enoch actually appears in the Bible in Genesis 5:18-24. His paternal genealogy is all that is stated, and follows as so:

Adam-Eve begat Cain, Abel, then Seth, who begat Enosh, who begat Kenan, who begat Mahalalel, who begat Jared, who begat Enoch

So Enoch has a direct lineage to Adam and Eve, the first of God.

Exodus 5:22 says, "Enoch Walked with God after the Birth of Methuselah three hundred years and had other sons and daughters. 23 Thus all the days of Enoch were three-hundred and sixty-five years. 24 Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him." What we can gather about age, and descending lineage from this is of no use to us. What this says is that Enoch was in direct line from Adam and Eve, and hence, as with many passages about lineage in the Bible is in the direct line of many seers or chosen ones, and that he walked with God. This then links on to the Book of Enoch which was found and translated with many other Dead Sea Scrolls.

The Book itself in it's entirety is given here in a .html format for everyone to download and peruse at one's own will. This is simply a reformatted version of a digital copy I procured. I have reformatted it, but not edited much- if any- of it. The contents of it speak of Enoch's grand journey into Heaven and Hell, and the deeds of many angels. Enoch is sent to exact vengeance on a group of rebel angels who intermix with humans and create a race of giants which are destroying the Earth. Enoch is shown where these angels are to be kept while they are punished. Enoch is also allowed conversation with the Archangels. It is for this reason that Dee may have made the association with what he was being shown as being "Enochian" or essentially "like Enoch"
