A very kind devotee showed me how to take association of Srila Prabhupada by sitting and chanting at the feet of his murti form in which he so mercifully appears to us. It is a testament to Srila Prabhupada's great spiritual potency and compassion that he has such kind, sincere followers. I was not first attracted to Srila Prabhupada's Krishna Consciousness movement by books, or even so much by the answers to my many philosophical questions. I was attracted by the love given me by his devotees, and their ability to show me that love is permanent and transcendental and that I am really real. I felt as though I had found my home. I am very grateful to all the devotees to whom I have revealed my belief in the theory of evolution. I have received reactions to my beliefs from perhaps over 100 devotees. I had been very worried about what types of discussions I would find myself in when I started all this. I put off revealing my belief for years, keeping it as a dark secret. When I finally started speaking out on this issue, I was relieved and a bit surprised to find the devotees being very kind about it all. Some devotees have been very critical of my views, but they never tried to use Srila Prabhupada against me to condemn me as a person. I am very grateful for this kindness that has been shown to me, and I see it as Srila Prabhupada's mercy. I have tried to come to terms with trying to follow Srila Prabhupada's
teachings while knowing that evolution is a fact. I ask the devotees to
please keep up their fine work of preaching to the fallen conditioned souls.
Please don't over emphasize those few mistaken views about the material
world. Please don't let such things get in the way of spreading Srila
Prabhupada's spiritual teachings throughout the world. Please continue
to preach to me and those like me so that we can all find our place in
the house the whole world can live in. Our home.
