INSTALLING ds9 under a student profile:

1. Turn on computer. Login: lhsc1 password: lhs
2. Click the My computer icon on the desktop and then Local Disk (C:) If there is not a file folder called WINDOWS, right click New>Folder and name the folder WINDOWS. Open the WINDOWS folder, and create a new folder inside it called Temp.
3. Open Internet Explorer and go to Yahoo! Mail. Yahoo! ID: lewiston_supernova password: stargazer
4. Open the ds9 email. There are three files attached. For the first one, click save to computer. On the window that comes up, click Save. Double click My computer, Local Disk (C:), WINDOWS, Temp and then click Save. Do this for the other two files as well.
5. Click Windows XP/2000/NT
6. Click Save and then change the “save in” window at the top to Desktop.
7. Double click the ds9 icon. Unzip to the Desktop. (click Browse and choose Desktop.
8. You are FINALLY ready to use the program by double clicking the new ds9 icon which looks like Aladdin’s lamp.
