Ah, how well she remembered it. It felt like only yesterday when it had truly been a month. How worried they must be back home if they knew, though she did not know if time on Pern and Earth passed in the same manner. She took a breath and sighed heavily, feeling a bit of tension leave with the breath and Alryuhn left her shoulder suddenly, perching on a rock. "Dance for me, Alaena," he asked, almost more of a demand then a request.
Alaena nodded, and took another breath, closing her eyes and feeling the rhythm of the Weyr and world about her, and began to dance to the reassuring beat, her supple body bending and swaying like a willow as she let the beat take her feet where that it might, and gave into a will greater than her own, forgetting all time as she danced.
As she danced the clouds above her began to shed their burdens, white snowflakes falling from the sky in gently swirling flurries. They moved around her, seeming to join her in her graceful, timeless dance as they fell, and Alryuhn watched her, a Dragonet smile on his face.
Suddenly, however, a spot in the clouds was breached, and the light of a full moon shone down upon Alaena as if the heavens themselves were applauding her performance, and if she noticed this, it only drove her on to do more, dancing in the natural spotlight as night slowly faded away.
How long she danced she did not know, but it was after dawn when Alryuhn told her to stop, and slowly, reluctantly, she did, and found she felt much better. She smiled to Alryuhn. "Thank you," she whispered softly, blue eyes misty with gratitude.
He merely nodded. "How about we go and procure some breakfast from the Living Cavern, Alaena? I'm starving." The Candidate nodded, and scooped the silver up before heading towards the Living Caverns to formally start her day...
