The Crafter's Prayer

Lord, you have created the world for us
And made it so beautiful.
What a great craftsman You are!

It is as if You have taken up an artist's brush
And painted it with the different hues of nature:
The sky, the sands, and the seas,
The moon, the sun and the stars,
Fields and flowers,
Birds and bees.
No wonder artists have tried to copy and capture
These beautiful scenes as their very own!

It is as if you have taken up a cook's ladle
And made up the most delicious, gourmet dish
Or scrumptious dessert - appetizing and filling!
It is as if You are a musician,
And from a few notes have created a simple melody
- Or a great symphony!

Just as if with a magic wand
You have made everything
Fit together
So harmoniously -
And magically, just for us!

You have filled our senses with
The colours of the rainbow,
The scent of the early morning dew,
The sweet sounds of nature,
The delightful taste of fresh fruit
And the exquisite touch of a fresh breeze,
As it gently caresses our face.
In all Your creation we have come to experience
Just a little taste of how great and wonderful You are!

Lord, for all this we thank You.
Help us to use our talent, our minds, our eyes and hands
... to be creative like You.
Together, with Your help and inspiration,
we can fill our hearths and our homes with delightful crafts.
In doing so, may we always praise Your name. AMEN
