A GREETING CARD

An Idea by Doreen Scerri

Materials Needed

A blank Card (plain or with an aperture) approx.
18cm x 12cm
Cutouts from greeting cards. You can make your
own using templates of flowers, hearts, stars, etc.
Silver, gold, corrugated (see side notes) or other
textured cardboard
PVA glue
Double sided-tape
Glitter glue
Optional: wide ribbon or fabric large enough to fit
aperture

Making the card
Have an array of ready-cut material and try them
out on your card.  When you are happy with the
design stick your cutouts around the outside of
your card with PVA glue or tape.

Cards with apertures can have one of the cutouts
inside the aperture i.e. on the inside of the card.
Alternately, you can attach fabric or textured board
inside the aperture thus closing the opening.  Use
this as a backing for your design on the front.

It is important to keep in mind not to use too
many designs or cutouts on your card.  Avoid the
cluttered look.  Many times, simple designs are
the most beautiful.  If desired, decorate with
glitter glue.  You can use a toothpick to move the
glue to make patterns.

At the back of the card, you can write the words
“Handmade by…….” or
“Handcrafted especially for you by …….”
And, of course, sign your name in the blank space.
