All about Sandy e junior the child singers from Brazil who recorded aniversário do tatu, sábado à noite,
tô ligado em você, pra dançar com você, você é D+! and much more
Sandy e Junior were the most
successful child singers of the 90's in Brasil, and in terms of albums sold, probably the world as well.
They are the son and daughter of Xororó, a well known country singer who was himself a child singer with
his brother Chitãozinho. Sandy and Junior's first album was 'Aniversário do Tatu' released in 1991
when they were 8 and 7 years old respectively. It contained country music similar to that which their
father sang. The second album 'sábado à noite' was also mostly country music and they went to Nashville,
USA to make the videos. Both these albums were successful selling between a quarter and half a million
copies.
However, much greater success was to follow with their next three albums in which they
decided to move away from country music. Their third album (released in 1993) was called 'Tô Ligado Em
Você', the portuguese version of 'You're the One That I Want' from Grease. The fourth album contained
more disco type music and was called 'Pra Dançar Com Você'. The fifth album (1995) 'Você é D+!' (demais)
contained a hit single 'O Universo Precisa de Vocês' which was the theme tune to the portugese version
of Power Rangers. This album is probably their 'best' with Sandy at 12 and Junior 11 years of age.
