Hannah's First Month 1-2 Months 2-3 Months 3-4 Months
Finally, at 5:05 a.m. on Monday, October 9th, Hannah decides to join us in this world via C-section. This picture was taken at 5:10 a.m., and I think Hannah would rather be back inside that womb. At 5:10 a.m., Hannah weighed in at a semi-hefty 8lbs. 10oz. and was 21 inches long. Pretty big girl. Very healthy with no complications. That's all mom and dad can ask for. Here's Hannah in the Recovery Room with the doctor who delivered her -- Dr. Kielmeyer. Dr. Kielmeyer did a great job, and mom never felt a thing. As you can tell by the look on Hannah's face, she also approved of Dr. K's work. Hannah is now hanging out with Grandma Sandy just a couple of hours after delivery. Grandma Sandy is soaking in as much personal time with Hannah as she can get before Grandma has to fly back out to Missouri later that afternoon. Hannah still thinks she's in her mommy's womb. Denial is not just a river in Egypt baby...

Finally, mom gets to see Hannah without mom being under the influence of anesthesia. This is about 4 hours after the C-section. Mom looks pretty dang good all things considered. (I have a picture of mom and Hannah in the Recovery Room, but needless to say, mom would kill me if I posted that to the Internet.) When coming out of major surgery, you just don't look your chipper-best. Hannah and her dad. One of the few times dad will be able to control Hannah. Hannah will soon be heading off to N'Sync concerts and telling dad he's an old fart. Hannah at home -- finally. Mom, dad, and Hannah had to stay at the hospital for four nights, and I think Hannah slept better than either mom or dad. Hannah seems to enjoy being at home. It's like being on spring break. She sleeps all day and parties all night. Of course, her form of partying is crying and eating. So, the goal here was to get a shot of Hannah with her eyes open and perhaps a smile. Hannah would have none of that.

Hey, there's one peeper! She often likes to give me what I call the "pirate look". She'll open eye for a second, take a look around, and realize she's better off getting her rest so she can stay up all night. Then it dawned on me. There's one place where she opens her eyes all the time! Yes, that's right -- during a diaper change. So, we dragged her to the changing table and lo and behold she opened both eyes. Trust me...they're blue! Well, she's not quite smiling (not sure if they can at this age), but it's as close as it's going to get.
