Cheese-Stuffed Witches' Hats

1 lb. Medium mushrooms (about 24)
1/4 cup finely chopped green onions (with tops)
1 Clove garlic, finely chopped
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
1/4 cup grated permesan cheese
2 tablespoons snipped parsley
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaves
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Remove stems from mushrooms; finely chop stems.
Cook and stir muchroom stems, green onions and garlic in margarine over medium heat until tender, about 5 minutes; remove from heat.
Stir in remaining ingredients.
Fill mushroom caps with stuffing mixture.
Place mushrooms, filled side up, in greased backing dish.
Back uncovered at 350 F for 15 minutes.
makes 24 appetizers.
