Rei is a very high-self-estemed but mature girl with a short temper. She's Shinto, and has powers that relate to that religion, like having visions and being able to read fires.
She lives with her grandfather in the Hikawa Jinja Temple, and one the guy who works there, Yuuichirou, has a crush on her. Rei at first didn't pay too much attention to him and won't admit that there's anything going on between them two. But after a while she starts liking him and one day she kisses him when he's was unconcious.
She goes to TA Private Girls' School, which is a Catholic school, where she is very popular...everyone seems to look up to her and treat her like a princess.

Rei and Usagi are always fighting. Rei has no patience with Usagi and gets very aggravated when Usagi starts crying and wants to run away from the fight. But they have in fact a great friendship, (please visit this page to read about that) and this may not show at the beginning of the series, but by the end you realize that Rei really cares about Usagi.
Rei has several Shinto powers that are not related to her powers as Sailormars. Her anti-evil scroll power where she chants on a slip of paper saying, "Rin, pyou, tou, sha, kai, jin, retsu, sai, zen. Akuryou taisan!" and throws it at her target getting rid of it's evil being. This means "Evil spirits, begone!".

Rei says this to transform into SailorMars.

Rei uses this to change into SailorMars in Sailormoon R and S.

Mars Crystal Power Make-Up
This allows Rei transform into Super Sailormars in Sailormoon SuperS and Sailor Stars.

Attacks

Akuryou Fuji No Ofuda
Sailormars' personal attack. She chants on a slip of paper saying, "Rin, pyou, tou, sha, kai, jin, retsu, sai, zen. Akuryou taisan!" and throws it at her target. This attack can stun an enemy or remove evil from a person. She learned this attack from being a Shinto Priestess.

Fire Soul
Sailormars' main attack. She puts her hands together and a ball of fire comes out of her fingers. Then she throws this flame ball to her enemy.

Fire Soul Bird
She enchants a slip of paper, throws it, and then sets it on fire. The paper turns into a bird of fire which fly into its target furiously.

Burning Mandala
Sailormars creates several rings of fire that she directs at her enemies.

Mars Flame Sniper
This is Super Sailormars' attack. A bow and arrow of flame are formed in her hands and she fires the arrow at her enemies.
