I WONDER
I softly touch my pillowcase
pretending it's his face
Wishing he was in my life
Instead, he's with his wife

I wonder if he's holding her
or is it me that he prefers
Does he shut her out these days
or does he plan to stay

I know it's wrong to want him so
I've tried, but I can't let him go
I wonder if I'll ever know
where I stand with him

I wonder if he'll reach for me
Or will he choose to set me free
Why does he still have my key
I wonder . . .

No longer will he visit me
At work, I see him once a week
We both look forward to that day
At least that's what he says

But no more will he take the risk
to hold me close or steal a kiss
She's there at night when he goes home
while I am all alone

Surely he can sense my pain
One more week gone down the drain
I only wish he would explain
what he plans to do

I wonder, if I was his bride
When she came into his life
Which one would he stand beside
I wonder . . .
