MY REFLECTION
When I see my reflection
in the mirror each day
I like less and less what I see
The lines in my skin
My eyes growing dim
Like a stranger looking back at me

When I see my reflection
in the words that I speak
I like less and less what I hear
Impatience is growing
My anger is showing
Clouding my sunny veneer

When I see my reflection
in the people I've met
I like less and less what I learn
The truth indeed hurts
from the feedback I get
as my cynical thoughts are returned

When I see my reflection
through the eyes of my child
I'm amazed at what I find there
The love and the trust
convince me I must
have some good left in me somewhere
