THE FIDDLER
What is that sound?
A handsome fellow whisp'ring in my ear
It seems so familiar
And why is it that I just can't think clear

Now a tiny voice
Says turn around and run the other way
Then I heard my hearstrings
That's when the violin began to play

It played a lovely tune
Your promises were music to my ears
My heart quivered with every note
Until a dissonant chord began to appear

Something's off key
I couldn't place my finger on it then
But a string of sour notes
Told me never to listen to this song again

You really played it smooth
But true intent will always give you away
At first you had me fooled
But this is music I choose not to play

No more song and dance
I fell for your performance once before
Oh, you played me like a violin, baby
But you're not gonna fiddle with me no more

The music's over
I refuse to be the resin for your bow
So take that catgut wielding, hollowed out box of
obnoxious sound, before I bust it into splinters
...and GO!
