Local Community - Introduction

Romania is a territory marked by the 45th parallel of northern latitude, a line of equilibrium and harmony to be equally traced in the natural and human landscape. Romania is the land that you will feel proud to discover! Much of the Romanian language comes from Latin and it was from the Romans that the name Romania was first derived. Our country has a great variety of landscapes, folk tradition, art and a very pleasant climate.

Romania has the shape of a peasant's round loaf of bread with relief forms displayed in slowly, descending circular steps. Huge mountains, rich hills covered by orchards and vineyards, and fertile fields are delimited by the crown of the Carpathians and by the biggest continental river, the Danube. The splendid Danube Delta is a paradise of vegetation, birds, fishes, and loneliness. At the beginning of time, Ovid, exiled to the Black Sea (8A.D. -18A.D.) said, "A man who comes here is destined to die here, and die happy even against his will".

Our region Vrancea is the smaller image of Romania size. Its inhabitants are hospitable open and diligent people who praise their history and love their homeland! They themselves are a very hospitable people pleased you came to show friendliness.  There is no other county in Romania well so worth visiting. Our hospitable greeting of "Bun venit" is the Romanian for "Welcome" and that is comes readily to the tongues of peasant, workers, everybody. Vrancea is a land of hot sunshine, clear blue skies. Its people have lived here since times out of mind, their roots are as deep as those of the fir-trees and just like the fir-trees they love the sunshine of life. Our people were and will always be young, honest, friendly, hospitable and hardworking.

Forests are the most important resources of the county. This region is also the biggest wine producer of the country. The plain area is under cereals, vegetables, and technical plants. The inhabitants of hilly and mountains settlements breed animals on natural pastures and hayfields.

Our town Focsani is first recorded in 1545. In time, it became a border town between Moldavia and Wallachia. Among places of cultural interest there are here. On Romania's map our town having about 100,000 inhabitants can be located in the south- east.

Our secondary school is not far from center of the town. It was built in 1964 and nowadays is famous for lots of good results in different competitions the students take part in.

We first heard about Internet years ago. We think it is a brilliant idea to be part of the global learning process. The network projects connect us to the world wide with its own contemporary problems. On the other hand their subjects and themes make us work in a profitable way for both sides. Learning by the aid of computer network communications gives us the opportunity to realize that we work properly.

We want to become happy persons in a beautiful world, respecting all the people in our world despite color, language, opinions or financial status and help people in need. That it will be the best experience of your life. We are always open to new ideas and better ways of teaching especially now that technology has made the world so small!
