Mihai Jora


Mihail Jora was born at Roman in 1891.

He was one of the most representative Romanian composers. He is considered the creator of the Romanian ballet and lied. Among his vocal creations we must mention the one on verses by Octavian Goga, George Bacovia, Lucian Blaga and Tudor Arghezi.

He composed the well known arias: "Mosul" (Suita) for orchestra which was conducted by George Enescu at first in 1918 when Jora was very ill in Marasti-Marasesti-Oituz. Jora was a pianist, musician, director of the Romanian Radio and teacher at the Conservatory of Bucharest.
