Antonio Vivaldi
My favourite composer
is Vivaldi because he frequently portrayed his work with gusty and tense
character of the music.
The Italian baroque gave
birth to the solo concerto at very end of the 17th century. Antonio Vivaldi,
the son of a Venetian barber and violinist took care of this musical form'
becoming loved throughout Europe.
As Vivaldi was an outstanding
violinist it was only natural that he should in his creative work focus
his attention on this instrument. He wrote above all concertos for violin,
though on suitable occasions he would willingly engage himself in exploiting
the solo potential of a host of other instruments. Those of his concertos,
which currently feature the guitar, were originally written for the soprano
lute or for the mandolin.
Vivaldi's musical output
includes well nigh all musical forms, which existed in his day, but he
is best known for his instrumental concertos of which he wrote about 500.
Vivaldi was not an innovating spirit but one with a penchant for consolidation
and synthesis. His entire creation is characterized by harmony of proportions,
melodic simplicity and nobility, harmonic clarity and an inspired and efficient
instrumental treatment.
